“Why don’t we go on a road trip?”, says Jing suddenly after dinner, two days before our long Labour weekend in 2014.
And so we did two days after, this is our first ever road trip hiring a caravan. At first I was a little concerned with the access of bathrooms and where to sleep but this trip turned out to be the most fun ever trip I’ve ever been. For my 15 years of staying in New Zealand, my most far away trip from Auckland was Taupo. I know, I’m a little odd. But thanks to Jing, I get to go to a lot of other places. Taranaki is about 8 hours drive from Auckland and we definitely took our time driving and stopping a lot. After all, it’s supposed to be a relaxed road trip.
At one night, we stopped our caravan beside Lake Mangamahoe without knowing that no cars should stay overnight in the reserve. After a glorious sunset and BBQ, a security came and checked in on us and he was kind enough to let us stay beside the lake. So I got to wake up early and took some awesome sun rise shots of Mt. Taranaki. That’s the reason I love New Zealand so much, everyone are just so chilled. Rules are meant to be broken.
